J. F. OBERLIN SUMMER SESSION 2025

This coming summer, J. F. Oberlin University opens its doors even wider to the world

The Summer Session at J. F. Oberlin University Shinjuku Campus is a maximum 8 weeks, 4 sessions, intensive program in the center of Tokyo. Courses offered in 2025 will be several content course and four levels of Japanese language courses. Each course allows participants to have first-hand experience through not only theoretical study, but also through field trips and lectures by guest professionals. Upon completion of each course, participants will be issued an official transcript from J. F. Oberlin University (4 Japanese University credits/course)*.

Discover Japan Through Immersive Education

Location

Nestled in the dynamic metropolis of Tokyo, the university campus is a gateway to the vibrant energy of the city. Just a short stroll from Shin Okubo station and not far walk to Shinjuku station, the busiest train station in the world, students can immerse themselves in the sights, sounds, and flavors of Tokyo, from charming boutiques to bustling food stalls.

Home to around 2,240 students, with a significant international population, the university is dedicated to nurturing global citizens. This program offers participants an invaluable opportunity to delve into Japanese language, history, and culture through immersive learning and interactive activities designed to foster connections with local students.

Cultural Immersion

Life in Tokyo offers a daily array of cultural encounters, from the serene experience of riding the subway to the culinary delights of izakayas (cozy Japanese pubs). Some courses feature guided visits to iconic sites such as temples, shrines, parks, gardens, museums, and more, providing a comprehensive introduction to the city’s heritage. Yet, often the most profound cultural insights come from everyday explorations, as participants discover the unique charm and character of Tokyo.

Join Summer Sessions in Tokyo for up to 6 weeks of intensive learning. Choose from various content courses and three levels of Japanese language classes. Experience hands-on learning with field trips and guest lectures. Complete the course and earn 4 credits with an official transcript.

Classes will be take place on the Shinjuku Campus which is located in the center of Tokyo. Participants can enjoy easy access to famous sightseeing spots such as Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Shibuya, Harajuku, Tokyo, Ginza, and other tourist destinations after school.

Accommodation

We offer safe, excellent accommodation that is not far from campus, local transportation, and many daily conveniences. Please see more details in what’s included below in our accommodation offer. Otherwise, you can find many kinds of accommodation options online or through travel agencies as well.

All housing are single rooms, furnished with bedding, with private bathroom with private bath, shower and toilet, IH cooker, pot, pan, cooking utensils, heating and air conditioning, bed and linens, body soap, shampoo and conditioner, face and bath towels, refrigerator, microwave, TV, wi-fi, on-site access to washers and dryers. Vending machines on-site and convenient stores, food markets, cafes and restaurants within minutes walk nearby.

Airport Pickup Service

It’s possible to access Tokyo’s main area from Narita or Haneda Airport by train or airport shuttle bus. However, if you would like our assistance, feel free to select our airport pickup service option.

We can pick you up at Narita or Haneda Airport!
As a service option, we can pick up you or your group at Narita or Haneda Airport on your arrival day. We will warmly greet you, and make sure you are all sorted with anything you might want while at the airport (sim cards, pocket wifi, money exchange, etc). Then we will guide you by private transfer directly to the accommodation and help you check in without any difficulty. We will also guide you around the accommodation so you are comfortable for your first night stay in Japan. Choose our service for a warm welcome, comfort and convenience upon your arrival without any difficulty.
